Astrology and Dreamwork

Astrology and dreamwork promote soul growth.

Both astrology and dreamwork use symbolic languages of the psyche or soul. Individually, they can help us grow tremendously when used with wisdom and care. When we combine both together, the potential for psycho-spiritual growth is magnified.

Why Combine Astrology and Dream Work?

Dreams bring life and color to the charts.

More people are discovering the value of integrating astrology with dreamwork. Some people focus primarily on the astrological signs and elements of the natal chart as they manifest as symbols and themes in our dreams. My experience as a lifelong astrologer and dream therapist expands upon these views.

To explain further, the signs and elements of the natal chart are often the foundation or background symbolism of our dreams. But the messages of our dreams often correlate with transits and progressions and other current astrological indicators. Astrologers know that the transits and progressions can best be understood in the context of the birth chart patterns. For example, when we see Pluto transiting to the natal Moon, the issues symbolized by the natal moon, along with its placement and aspects, will have an opportunity to be healed. It is important to allow for the safe exploration of these sensitive issues in a trusting relationship.

The Three Dimensions of Dreams

Our conscious self mediates between the unconscious and the superconscious.

Here are some basic concepts of dream work to help you understand how astrology and dreamwork enhance one another. There are three main dimensions in ourselves: the physical, mental, and spiritual, or body, mind, and spirit. The physical body correlates to the conscious, the mental body to the subconscious, and the spiritual body to the superconscious

Because we are conscious entities, we receive input from the subconscious and the superconscious in dreams. We also do this with meditation, active imagination, and other forms of soul work. Our conscious thoughts program the unconscious material that is reflected in our dreams. Likewise, our subconscious informs the conscious self with a wealth of information through dreams and other intuitive inputs.

The conscious level also correlates with the physical self. Consciousness is in every cell of our bodies. Dreams related to physical health can benefit our current lives and warn us of potential future health issues.

Dreams from the Subconscious and Superconscious

Our conscious thoughts influence our dreams.

Most of our dreams come from the subconscious. They are psychological and relate to our mental and emotional concerns, such as relationship issues. While most dreams offer constructive messages, we may sometimes have confusing or deceptive dreams. This is why practicing meditation is helpful in discerning guidance from our Higher Self from that of other energies that may not be useful.

The superconscious, also called our higher self, is an aspect of the Divine. We are a part of the Creative Force, but we are not the Creative Force. Dreams from this level are very transformative and spiritual. Working with our dreams regularly and with a seeking attitude can gradually enhance our psychic development.

Additionally, the quality and clarity of our dreams will change over time. With a sincere and dedicated commitment to dream work, you will access more dreams from your Higher Self. Daily commitment to applying dreams’ advice will also lead to clearer guidance.

Working Consciously with Astrology and Dreamwork

Dreams make astrological wisdom specific to the individual person.

Changing our thoughts and attitudes affects changes in our unconscious programming. Our dreams reflect our attitudes and urge us to grow and change. When we work with our dreams over time, they become clearer.

Dreams synthesize and focus on what is most essential for us to know at any point in time. Because we have free will, we can choose to optimally manifest any dream guidance or astrological aspect.

Intuitive astrology, with its different symbolic language, also comprehensively addresses these dimensions. The interplay between intuitive astrology and dream analysis is not only comprehensive but also fascinating, sparking intrigue in our growth journey.

Combining Astrology and Dreamwork for Spiritual Guidance

Blending astrology and dream work is a creative process.

Both dreams and astrology address the totality of our beings and our lives through the language of symbols. Astrology’s symbols are mainly the planets, signs, and houses, while dream symbols may be personal or universal (archetypal). As with astrology, dreams are complex and relate to every aspect of the psyche. Astrology offers an interpretive framework to help us understand our dreams’ mysterious imagery and content.

Working with astrology also aids us in addressing issues of the timing of events or changes in our lives. Dreams are famously nebulous regarding time.

Astrological transits and progressions trigger the birth chart and amazingly correlate with the dream themes, symbols, content, and messages that co-occur. Understanding the astrological transits can validate our process, help us manifest the aspects with less resistance and more resilience, and help us gain insight and wisdom. We then can choose our responses with enhanced self-awareness.

Astrology and Dreamwork Summary

Astrology helps with timing while dreams may not.

In summary, when used together, astrology and dreamwork enhance our self-awareness and intuition, supporting our spiritual growth. However, astrology does not reveal the particular circumstances of our lives, as do dreams. Astrology provides the framework, while dreams offer direct guidance about our unique life issues.

Additionally, dreams often uncover many repressed memories, feelings, and insights. They also provide a path to resolving the conflicts in our psyches, relationships, and lives. With enhanced insight gained by astrology and dreamwork, we can be more accepting of life’s challenges and use our freedom of choice to make the best of what life brings!
